New Music Director Chosen for the Town of Marshfield
August, 2009 -- Marshfield
The Marshfield Friends of Music is excited to welcome Mr. David Kaminski as the new Director of Music for the Town of Marshfield.
Though Mr. Kaminski is new to Marshfield, he’s certainly not new to this job description. David has worked the past six years for the Georgetown Public Schools teaching elementary, middle, and high school bands, middle and high school jazz bands, and high school marching band as well as some high school classroom electives. David served as Georgetown’s Director of Music the past three years supervising the district’s music teachers and overseeing the after-school lesson program. Before Georgetown, David was the band director at Silver Lake Regional High School and before that, several other school districts including being the assistant band director at Manzano High School in Albuquerque, NM. From 2001-2007 David was also the conductor/artistic director of the Sharon Community Bands comprised of a concert band and a jazz band (the Roy Scott Big Band). He is a graduate of Northeastern University (BA in music) and the University of New Mexico (MMus in music education) where he worked as a graduate assistant for the band program.
David started studying the clarinet at age 8 and quickly added the saxophone a year later. By 12, he had already decided he wanted to be a band director and at 13 was teaching privately. Currently David plays alto saxophone in the Metropolitan Wind Symphony and clarinet, sax, and flute for his temple’s Klezmer band.
David, his wife Lynn, daughter Shira, and son Meyer live in Westwood.
Marshfield is thrilled to have him and looking forward to an exciting new era for the Marshfield Music Program. Welcome David!
